Chiropody
Chiropody Foot Care, Custom Foot Orthotics, Orthopaedic Shoes

At Dundas Chiropody, in Oakville, Sachin has a general foot care clinic. On any given day, she may be treating ingrown toenails, foot pain, warts, corns, bunions, calluses, as well as helping people with their other foot care concerns.

Chiropody is a primary healthcare profession which specializes in the assessment, treatment and prevention of foot disorders. Chiropodists can help children, adults and seniors with a variety of foot problems. In children, early detection of many foot problems (flat feet, in or out toeing) can prevent more serious complications from developing later (knee, hip or low back pain).

The geriatric population can benefit from chiropody service for treatment of painful lesions resulting from the long-term effects of diabetes, rheumatoid osteoarthritis and biomechanical anomalies.

Chiropodists are often called upon by physicians and other healthcare professionals for consultation and treatment of common foot problems such as:

Tick nails and conservative ingrown toenail treatment
Permanent ingrown toenail treatment by surgical management with local
       anesthetic and phenolization
Painful bunions, corns or callous formations
     Fungal nail or skin infections
     Plantar warts or lesions
     Localized heel or arch pain
Management of the diabetic foot specializing in wound management and
       rheumatoid foot
     Custom prescription orthotics / footwear

Chiropody in Ontario is not covered under OHIP but is covered by most Third Party insurance, Extended Health Care plans, Veteran's Affairs Benefits and Workman's Compensation. Daytime and evening appointments available.

What does a Chiropodist do? / What does a treatment involve?
Chiropody is the assessment of the foot and the treatment and prevention of diseases or disorders of the foot by therapeutic, orthotic and palliative means.
Don't underestimate the importance of healthy feet! Foot deformities, infections and injuries not only limit your mobility, but can detrimentally affect your knees, hips, and other parts of the body.

What does Chiropody involve?
Chiropodists specialize in the recognition, assessment, treatment, and ongoing care of the foot. An essential member of the health care team, the Chiropodist has many skills and techniques that help patients eliminate foot pain, gain mobility, and maintain healthy feet. Chiropodists treat:

    Sports injuries
Common foot conditions such as corns, warts, ingrown toenails or calluses
Foot infections caused by medical conditions such as diabetes
Foot deformities and misalignments both in adults and children

Our feet do not generally get the attention they deserve. This may be because for most of the time they are hidden in shoes and don't contribute to our overall appearance. In societies where shoes are never worn, foot problems only affect 3% of the adult population. When footwear is worn, this rises to a staggering 80%. Neglecting the feet can cause pain and can have serious consequences. Many cases of neglect are caused by wearing shoes that do not fit properly. Some shoes are simply not designed to fit the natural shape of the foot.

The feet support the body and have to take considerable strain. In the average lifetime your feet will carry you 70,000 miles! We tend to only notice our feet when we have a problem. However, they are the foundation of our body and are vital to our well-being.
Whether you have a problem now, or wish to prevent problems in the future, you are advised to visit a qualified chiropodist.
We invite you to Schedule an Appointment with us to discuss if you and your family can benefit from our care.
